THE DIG
Archaeological work at Whitehall took place in 2008 and 2010. The work was carried out by a partnership between the Bermuda National Trust, the National Museum of Bermuda, Boston University, and the College of William and Mary. The excavations aimed to uncover the remains of St. Peter’s Church original boundary wall, which today is on the south side of Church Lane. In the 17th century this boundary was probably somewhere on the Whitehall property. In 2008 excavations failed to uncover evidence for the church boundary wall; however, three important areas of 18th and 19th century occupation of the site were discovered.
